Aero port question

Im building a box for a dd 9512i and want to do a aero port. Using Torres I see that 2 4" will give me 25.12in^2 port area and 1 6" would give me 28.26in^2. How much of a difference is that really? Is this something I as a noob would notice? This will be daily and no intention of metering if that matters. Thanks for the help

I don't know what the recommended put area is for that sub but that is s small difference in put area really.

If there is a difference it will most likely be a difference of freq range IMO.

Big Ports look nice so hopefully some one more knowledgeable will chime in and say they like big Ports lol.

Could already call dd and ask them how much port area they recommend for that sub.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Thanks for the reply guys i agree big ports are sexy indeed. Just can't find a 6" elbow to fit the port in the box. I don't have any room to do external. Max maybe 2" external. Leaves me with about 15" and the box is 15 deep. Joe Thanks once again for all the help

Not even remotely true.

The tuning frequency and box size will be the controlling factors for the low end frequency response, unless the port is so undersized that it affects the port operation/tuning frequency at high volumes.

As far as differences, not only does the single 6" have more port area, it also has less side wall surface area, so there is less friction through the port.

The single port will have a slightly shorter length than the equivalent dual port setup with the same total port area at the same tuning frequency.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

I definitely noticed that. I only needed 1 6"x18" to get a 37.72hz tuning but need 3 4"x30" to get to a 38.52hz

That's one thing to love about slot ports, they don't get in the way of your area requirements, you will need to do a single 6" aero.

I wasn't sure what the difference would have been, was kinda making a guess.

That's why I suggested asking the manufacturer and said something about some one with more knowledge to chime in.
