GueroZ28 Posted December 26, 2013 Author Report Posted December 26, 2013 such low power should be fine with 1/2" mdf. For those somewhere around 25sq"-35sq" should be fine. So 2 4" round Ports basically or a slot port with similar our slightly higher port area That's just of the top of my head, my not be 100% but I doubt Pitt noise with those speakers and my suggestion. I'm not anything near an expert though All of my specs were given to me.by someone on this forum they told me to use a 6 inch port 3 inches out... I think the size of the port has something to do with the tuning right? But why 3 inches out? And also i dont have to flare it then ?
bbeljefe Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 One 6" port is the perfect port area for two K0 12s (assuming that's what you're running) and the only reason I can think of for extending the port outside the box is that it was too long to fit in the box otherwise. As for flaring, it makes the port more efficient but you don't have to do it. What exactly are you looking to learn here OP? alaskanzx5 Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Ok, so if a, member on here made you a box design and suggested a 6" port you have roughly 28sq" of port. Volume doesn't mater. Just port area. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
bbeljefe Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Volume does matter but only with respect to the gross volume of your box. It has nothing to do with tuning though.... that's determined by port area and port length. Facebook: facebook.com/audioanarchyllc Instagram: audioanarchyllc Youtube: youtube.com/bbeljefe

What im trying to learn is how u figure out the port area and how do u add it with the box's area to find the air space u need.. or u just mess with the port size til u get the tuning u want?
Joe X Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 If you just want to calculate yourself the box download Torres calculator and read the manual inside, it will calculate everything for you just make sure to give enough port area, the manual tells you how to give enough port area.

Im still using everything the same just a bit smaller since im now using h the 1/2mdf but everything still seems the same to the calculations u gave me (i think it was u)

A ported enclosure operation is defined by 3 variables which are NET internal volume, port tuning and port area. Port volume does not define anything regarding the operation of the enclosure, it just happens that if the port is larger in size your box will be also larger in size.

Thanks Joe for pointing out that port volume is not important but that port area length are the important factors to a port. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
Joe X Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 The OP keeps asking but it seems to me the answers just further confuse him.
