i went to the most reputable car audio shops available in my home town, and asked about help with installing a dual alt kit from dc power.they listened to my stereo and i do have massive dimming a voltage drops. i have a rockford t2500-1bd i have dual batterys up front ,big 3 all 0 awg. i am wanting to double this output in the near future.the salesman, also an installer told me he never needed dual alternaters and he would do 170 at db drags in his car. he told me all i need is 6 red top batterys for my current setup total. then maybe 10 batteries when i move up. i have a 270 amp alt now, but I've found out my computer wont let it put out what its capable of.my question is,is this true in any way if i have a big enough battery bank.

In a word? lololololol

If you have large voltage drops, then you either need to get bigger alt, more alts, or properly program what you have to get the most out of it. It takes power to make power. If you had a million batteries, you still have to charge them. Simple as that. Damn some of these "shops".

Go ask him how all those batteries will stay charged. What car? Also name the shop cause 170 is a huge claim.

dc 7.5k

dc level 5 15's (3)

xs power batts

lots of sky high cable

dual alts(came off the sky-high gmc and don't know who made them)

External Regulator. Dun dun dun. If you have a 270, plus those batts, and only a 2500... I could see maybe a lil drop but not much. Get external regulator, bypass your car's computer (most likely will turn on a light) and set it to the proper voltage.

lol. stop listening to that man.

batts will help. to an extent. like more than 10k you'd probably need a second alt. but depends on the person/car/system/fucks-given.

I love the end of that statement man, pefect lol.

But for real OP, everything in here is right, and I doubt that shop did a 170.

This is a big lol. You should go tell that installer to sign up here and post in this thread with his reasoning for what he told you so we can all have a good laugh.

Now as for as your issues what kind of batteries are you running right now? What vehicle is this in? Have you checked and made sure all your wires are tight for your big 3? Did you do the install yourself? And don't waste your time with the red tops get 2 xs power d3100 and be done with it. How is your gain set? With the dc 270xp and 2 batts you really shouldn't be dimming. Something is wrong most likely a wiring issue. And that installer hit a 170db never in his life.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

the batterys are diehard platinum and a stinger battery, but i want to order 2 xs batteries so they match whichever ones the website suggested for vehicle 06 avalanche. i want to order the dual kit 370 alt from dc,i just wanted to make sure this would work.i plan on running about 7-8k eventually but i don't know if just the dual kit would br enough for that much? and all my gains were set with the smd. i didnt install the batteries cause i didnt know much about it at the time.
