bzcheezy Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 So I am building a system in my truck and I am in need of some guidance.... This is what I will be running when the build is over, so i need help with electrical... i want to be pushing fosgate tb800.4, and dc 7.5k @16 volts .... I already have a mechman 270 amp alt... do i need another alt? how many batts do i need and what kind of batts do i need?....sorry, im a beginner i don't know what it is about 8's....one day i am gonna do a build with a LOT of them.
Guest Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 i think RF amps protect above like 16v. edit: manual says 16v maximum operating voltage.
Guest Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 you better get some stepdown regulators if you're running one 14v alt (14v charges at 16v. 16v charges at 18v. hope to god you know this....). because you'll smoke every computer inside the car.
DubNDodge Posted January 4, 2014 Report Posted January 4, 2014 Do you already have the dc7.5k? Because you are taking one helluva leap being a beginner and trying to run 7k '01 Dodge Stratass Sealed Trunk Build Log 2008 Honda Fit Sport Build Log On 10/3/2013 at 10:00 AM, ROLEXrifleman said: Anyone who says they knew everything they wanted out of life at 19 can go suck a bag of dicks cause they are lying to themselves or brought up in a cult.

Because you are taking one helluva leap being a beginner and trying to run 7k no, all i have is the components and tweeters with the RF 800 amp... I am taking my good ol time figuring everything out before i even think about starting with the woofers i don't know what it is about 8's....one day i am gonna do a build with a LOT of them.
BigGains Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 If I was you id stick to 12v, theres tons of amps that put out rated at 14v I agree with DubNDodge thats a hell of a jump.... side note you should be fine with the one alt from mechman 2003 silverado TEAM DC Pioneer Avh 5500 4 DC lvl 5 18s 12 crescendo pwx 6.5s 4 crescendo ft1 tweets 6xs d3400s Singer 400 alt Skyhigh ofc wires Skyhigh speaker wires Smd vm1 2 DC 175.4 DC 10k

Running that big of a system as a beginner is one thing, then adding on the fact you want to charge higher. Just more variable that can go wrong, and more components you require to achieve it. May I ask though, what your reasoning for doing a 16v system is? Most of the time when I see people doing that, it's because they want to compete, and squeeze every bit of juice from their gear. Miguels Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 why not just buy a 10k and run it at 12v? you will need more 14v batteries since they have less reserve than a 12v battery running the 10k will be much easier to run than doing the 7.5k at 14v my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Emmet Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Were you the guy looking for someone to help install and teach you a little with the plans for 2 xls and a 5k? I'm just curious why the sudden jump to bigger plans with 16v and a 7.5k when in the other thread you said you were just learning. Might as well start small, no point dumping all your money into something huge and smoking your equipment because you didn't know what you were doing. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah..
