moredbs Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 ok I've been doing a ton of research for two months now, don't wanna waist money. but I'm ready to order triple alternator kit with 2 dc 270 xp. i have an 06 chevy avalanche that has pcm controlled alt. i have read many threads with guys having problems with this.my questions are will my pcm control the 270 xps.or will they be wired to turn on from fuse box ignition. or do i need to also be ready to order the mla module?last but not least do i understand this correctly on the mla module it will put your factory and aftermarket alts in harmony without the pcm regulating the voltage?does this mean i won't need to add a voltage meter up front ? any help would be great,I'm tired of researching and ready to start this project!
tacomaguy1 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Ask DC Think you can do it so the 2 alts will be system only and the other is controlled by pcm for everything else Team Flex Issues
moredbs Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 im gonna contact dc on monday just wanted to make sure I'm understanding everything i should know before i contact them.
alaskanzx5 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 get an adjustable voltage regulator and don't even use the pcm. ask dc about getting it all setup for an external regulator when your making your order so that it is all dealt with in house and makes the install as simply as possible for you. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
moredbs Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 ok thanks! sounds like i just need to talk to dc and tell them everything I'm trying to do.
alaskanzx5 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 yep, tell them that you have heard about there being issues running multiple alts on the pcm and that you would rather go external to avoid issues. the battery light on the truck might come on but you can eventually pay out a some money to get the computer remapped for better performance/mpg and that light turned off. or remove the light bulb lol. I would wire a voltage meter/gauge to each alt to keep an eye on them individually so if one is having issues you know right away. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
moredbs Posted January 11, 2014 Author Report Posted January 11, 2014 ok but i do hate the battery light issue, maybe they will know whats best. i alo forgot about the gas mileage and performance. i guess adding alt will effect my mpg some.this truck already sucks on gas ,but i don't drive it everyday
slamingsuburban Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 ha you mileage is going to suck hard mine is bad now when driving in the city and beating hard but if your on the highway its not so bad

alaskanzx5 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 or run 2 of the alts external regulated for the sub amps and the 3rd on the pcm for the car and mids and highs amps. 2 external regulated alts wired to the batt bank batt bank to the sub amps. 1 pcm controlled alt wired to an upgraded stock battery wired to the car/mid & high amp(s). then the sub amps will have 540amps of alt plus battery bank to keep them happy. t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
