Tarball Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 seriously though, put some properly soldered or crimped terminations when you replace the wire - and fuses. Herokight Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 Put a fuse on every connection to and from the capacitor. Check the manual for your amps for the proper fuse rating to use. Edit- Every POSITIVE connection. Grounds don't need a fuse. Lane AKA HeroKight '96 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4x4 R.I.P. Molliboo $200 for new tires, on a jeep!? Tarball Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 lose connections generate heat - heat melts wire insulation, no insulation causes bare wire to ground out, any power source will rapidly drain and cause more heat resulting in a fire, loss of propery and maybe even injury/loss of life. Fuse 12"-18" from any power source. Capacitors aren't normally fused because they dont have a large reserve but looking at what you are dealing with for termination I would fuse everything and terminate every wire - properly. Check out some videos and info hear on the site lots of good info here. HOT solder or hydraulic crimp any ring terminals.
