Aj11 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 every time i see someone talking about running @half a ohm people Say make sure your electrical can handle it. i was trying to search for this so i didn't start a topic that prolly has been answered several times. i couldn't seen to find it so if I'm beating a dead horse I'm sorry. but what kind of upgrades do you need to run a .5ohm load? i have a upgraded Alt 140amps big 3 with 00g welding wire 0g wire to the amp. no second bat yet (yet) what else would i need to run a half ohm load? I'm not really planning to i just want to know! thanks guys jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Noel989 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Your be to generic 1k amp 35799k? What do you have? And why do you want to run at .5? Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
mrd6 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 It's all system dependent. People run amps at lower impedance to compensate for rise. Not all systems will have the same impedance curves so not all systems can/should/need to be setup with amps at a lower impedance....when people say a strong electrical you need enough to power your amps normally plus a little extra. But really there is no way to tell for sure just how much that is without testing it. My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...-sundown-power/ Team NorthWestSPL
smashedz28 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 If you have to ask don't do it. .5 is very tough on your electrical. If your not competing and trying to squeeze ever last bit from your system don't do it. There is a reason most amps don't warranty .5
DubNDodge Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 basically double your draw of your current amplifier to be safe. Your amp draws 200A normally at 1 ohm? Plan electrical for 400A then.
