CleanSierra
Turn it down, as others have said. You sure you're set properly to know max undistorted volume on HU AND max UNdistorted setting on gain for the amp? Sometimes guys forget to do the average, and still send the volume knob too high on the HU. ALSO, just because you set the gain with the DD1, doesn't mean that you can't play a song that's clipped to hell. Which track did you set your sub amp with on the DD-1? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
dangaranga
I have one of the threatcon-2 12'' and when i first started started hammering on her, i too got a stinky glue smell the first couple times playing hard but it didn't get warm. (tuned with dd-1 40 hz-10 db track ) It did in fact go away, and being the paranoid person i am, i pulled the sub to check the coil and it still looked as if it had just came out of the box. Hell, iirc i think i even made a thread about it lol Whats your estimate on how long before they start to stink? And is this specific to a certain song? i know a lot of mainstream rap is clipped Brandon 2000 Furd Ranger supercab 4x4 System: welding wire throughout the truck USalts 390amp Hairpin Juicebox in stock location 8 Banks of maxwell supercaps 2 American Bass Vfl 1100.1 wired to .35 each 2 Fi Audio Sp4 18's ( the DD sc 9918's smoked) Pioneer radio with Soundstream PA mids Powered by a nice sized soundstream 2 channel It's pronounced (dain-ja rain-ja) 2001 2 door focus 1 DD9918 SC

oldsoundguy
I got that smell just before my jbl sub fried. Lol. I do agree that just because you set your gain with the DD-1 doesn't mean you won't clip at all. I just over time learned what songs I can turn up and which ones I can't. I use my phone via Bluetooth so I download shared mp 3s and some are recorded clip as shit. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

Both my mids/highs amp and bass amp are set with their respective -5dB track. The HU doesn't distort at all with either track.
