chvse_esvhc Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Highly considering ditching my SAZ-3500 and just heading to the big leagues and getting myself an NS-1. Before I do so though.. I want to be certain on how many extra batts I'll need in addition to what I already have. Current electrical is: DC Power 270XP alt (regulated at 15v) D3400 under hood 2 D3100's in the rear Big 3 upgrade Question is.. 1 or 2 more D3100's? I'd want to order them together if I had to get two. Want to do this all in one shot if I commit! Thanks guys.
ToNasty Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Your good. I would get a bigger alt but other than that it seems fine. Maybe 1 more 3100 ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
Miguels Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 how was your voltage with the saz3500? my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
chvse_esvhc Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 I wish I could... I could've went with a 320, but it didn't have as much idle output as my 270. This is the absolute best one I could get for my TC. Batt power is gonna have to save the day.
chvse_esvhc Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 When driving or at decent RPMs's I'd never go below 14.3-14.6 (I use the SMD VM-1) reads in increments of .3. When parked and at idle; I'd drop to 13.1 with no foot on the gas and full tilt. RPM's made all the difference in the world.
jmanjr82 Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I would lean towards 2 3100s. If you can afford it and it will fit mise well go for it plus the extra reserve is going to help you, obviously not as much as a high output alt, but as stated you dont have that option unless your going to figure out how to dual alt your tc
ToNasty Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I'd just add 1 more. To be honest there's really no point in adding a ton more batteries if you Can't charge them ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
CHEVY4X4BLAZER Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I know a guy with 1 high output alt and 3 xs d 7500s backing his ns-1
chvse_esvhc Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 The dual alt configuration is a slim chance.. engine bay is too small and tight. I've looked into it and been told that I'd have to give up my AC if I really wanted to make it happen. Not worth it. As far as getting two more.. I'm fine with paying. I don't mind. Where I run into trouble is.. how much more weight can this Scion TC support. This is my daily driver. I don't have any suspension upgrades. My box for my woofers is 1 1/2 thick on ALL sides including baffle and stands at over 9 cubes. I've got a good deal of weight in this thing. Don't know how much more it can take?...
chvse_esvhc Posted February 3, 2014 Author Report Posted February 3, 2014 I would do a good job at charging the system frequently.. As I know the alt couldn't do much for 4 of those suckers in the rear.
