Voltage dropping to low with h/o alt

Hello everyone I just recently bought a 200 amp alternator off of eBay and installed it. Then I did the big 3 upgrade and it helped a little but I'm still getting very low voltage drop when some hard bass hits. I don't have a voltmeter or anything I'm just going by my in dash battery gauge. It drops pretty low at times close to the red mark so I then turn my bass knob down but there's really not a lot of bass then. I need some advice as what I should do next to keep my voltage up. I'm running 2 sundown audio sd-2 10's dual 2 ohm with a kicker ZXS1500.1 on a 2 ohm load. I used 0 gauge wire for the big 3. 0 gauge power and ground wire from amp. If I put a better battery under the hood will it help any? I don't have any caps btw. Also its in my 1989 Chevy C1500 Truck.

Yeah its an eBay alt but I messaged the guy who sold it to me and he said I could exchange it for a diff one but I'm not sure if it would fix anything. Will a better battery help any?

Get a good alt, mechamn, singer, dc power. batteries will help but the issue is that alternator. Ebay alts are know to be very crappy and not work well. Great price yes but thats about it. Personally i would get a new alt. then you can add to that. If you spend money on good batteries with that crappy alt you will just kill the batteries at the end of the day.

I would have the alternator clamped to see if its output is what they claim it is. If not then there is your problem. If the alternator is 200 AMPS then you may need a good battery

Alright I guess ill take it by AutoZone and have it checked out. If its a crappy alternator ill just return it and get a refund. Thanks guys

Autozone can't check a High Output alternator. They are not equipped to be able to load it down. You will have to find a AMP clamp style multimeter.

doubt autozone can test an alt over 100 amps.

i had two ebay alts. both shit. got my money back. will never spend $1 per amp on an alt ever again.

my ebay high output alt would spike into the 16's when not playing 100% constant sine waves. sees a load then load disappears? SPIKE THE VOLTAGE. sees no load then load appears? DROP VOLTAGE THEN INCREASE

Just because I haven't seen anyone else say it, you might want to put a real volt meter on it to be sure there really is a problem. A 25 year old stock volt meter may not be very reliable. The stock volt Guage in my 89 Blazer drops off completely with my dmm reading 14+ volts at the battery. Also, just to be sure, is this problem at idle or with some rpms?
