DylanBunch Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 If you have 2 woofers in their proper enclosure, for example one with 88bd sensitivity and one with 95bd would the loudness or efficiency be noticable? Or is the parameter pretty much pointless 2006 Ford Explorer 2 Team AA/Sundown 15s 6th order Ct Sounds 7k 4 PRV Mr500 8s Rockford p1000-2 Team Subsonic Lows
bkolfo4 Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 It can be, but other parameters make a difference too. You would really have to model the system to get a good idea. It also makes a difference if you are talking about louder to the ear or louder on a meter. Lower frequencies can sound/feel louder than higher frequencies, even if they actually meter the same. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
DylanBunch Posted February 5, 2014 Author Report Posted February 5, 2014 So higher db sensitivity will or can sound louder on the low end? 2006 Ford Explorer 2 Team AA/Sundown 15s 6th order Ct Sounds 7k 4 PRV Mr500 8s Rockford p1000-2 Team Subsonic Lows
Joe X Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 In the end one can look at the system model as said but the following can help gain some insight on dBs & sensitivity: http://www.salksound.com/wp/?p=56
kirill007 Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Sensitivity is measured at 1kHz, so you figure out if it's important to look at for subwoofers. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
