RiottStarr
Where is the best location to get CLEAN power for yor head unit? I have heard of and was thinking of running it from my amps? Thoughts?
P4killer_
Clean power? The factory 12v constant should be plenty clean. Even if you power directly from the battery.. it wouldnt make a difference.. Dirty power I think you mean the head unit making noise.. thats a grounding issue or rca issue etc.. There isnt a dirty 12v it should be rather stable without an issue. Its not like the 12v source is ac which is converted to dc for the h.u... not counting the alt. Maybe I mis understood something here.. Wicks
I would tap off of a spare location from your stock fuse panel. Same location your vehicles CPU and other electronics feed from. Also make sure you have a solid ground. This voltage should be near your stock battery/alternator and will tend to be stable. The power input to your amps could have the tendency of dropping which you probly don't want running to your HU. The HU most likely has a wide voltage input range but I'd keep it as stable as possible. If you truly want a stable and clean voltage supply to your HU then you could purchase a 12v DC-DC converter (voltage regulator). It would take your variable vehicle voltage and regulate it to a solid 12v.
