hondakid1996
First off let me say I know there are no vs threads, but I think this is okay. All I would like to know is, what's the difference between a standard 12 inch 12 spoke basket and an SA 12 basket? I only ask because I have a pair of RE SX motors that i will be rebuilding soon and I'd like to use SA 12 baskets. Will they fit? Will I need the cooling ring? Will the FI recone made for an SX 12 fit an SA 12 basket? It'd be simply for looks, but I'd appreciate some help!

dolarbilz
If you have the SA basket and 12spoke basket measure the landing of spider to landing of surrounds if the same I would think it would match up with recone.and measure the width of spidrr landing .but I have a feeling the12 spoke basket is taller.and if bolt patterns don't match you van always redrill it..if really want the same basket you may need contact psi or fi have them make you a recone
hondakid1996
I don't have an SA basket or else I would have done that. The bolt pattern should be the same, my main question is to achieve the same hight as a 12 spoke, will I need the cooling ring or not? audiofanaticz
the SA-12 4spoke style basket uses a smaller bolt pattern, its a 2.5inch coil woofer, so it wont fit the majority of other 3inch coil subs. I have abought 10 sa-12 baskets if your still interested. LOL
sundownz
Indeed. The SA series bolt pattern is a bit smaller than "standard" 3 inch coil drivers. The 4-spoke frame has a little bit less clearance than the 12-spoke -- but we use a 7" spider on the SA line so that is no problem, it's a bit shallower than the 12-spoke, and I prefer to use my vent ring vs. open vents where I can... so we use the 4-spoke.
