Tarball
in your situation I would dial the external to match the V setpoint on your stocker until you can afford to get a second H.O. alt. MECHMAN
IMO guys one High output alternator is better than NO high output alternator. If you are going to go through the trouble to fab one in the give it a whirl throw a couple batteries in see what shes got. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
P4killer_
The h.o unit is installed atm. And actually ive figured out that it has to be doing more than 136a because the way the wiring diagram is, its like a current divider and the cars current draw isnt being measured at all at the battery. Anyway. What I really need to know, and maybe mech man could answer this is: Is it possible to run the externally reg unit and the stock unit at the same time? And if so what would be the best way to measure the stock set point? Also I assume that eventually running say a mechman alt with my EA alt would be ok? Some ppl use the same external reg.. which most have a max field current of 15a.. I think two alts would max that out. But I know ppl do it. Or would I be better running separate regulators too? Thanks im pretty sure somewhere i read they make voltage regualtors for multiple alts.. Thanks You can run 2 alternators off of the external regulator. IF the factory alternator is internally regulated then it will have to be converted to external. 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
P4killer_
So running a ext reg unit. And an internal reg unit is a no go I take it? MECHMAN
So running a ext reg unit. And an internal reg unit is a no go I take it? You can but you would need to set it to the same voltage if you plan to run it in conjunction with the vehicle. Or you could run the externally regulated alternator straight to a battery bank and charge it to the intended voltage for the batteries 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
P4killer_
Right but is there a way to enure they charge at the same point. Being that the stock would be ecm controlled?
