SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 hi my name is chad im having trouble with getting the right type of fuse and amp rating for my power cable to the amp. i had a boss audio 3000 watt mono block and the 4 gauge wiring kit came with a 60A agu fuse which worked perfect for the 3000 watt amp. i sold the amp and got a 5000 watt boss mono block. i blew the 60A fuse from my battery cable. i hadto replace it with the same one but wont turn in on full blast cuase i know ill blow it agian. what fuse rating should i get and is mini anl good to use sense agu only gos to like 100A. also im not posative on if im right or not but sense the amp has 4 40A fuses on it dont i need like a 160A fuse for the main cable?
SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 and i talked to a friend just to get more opinions on the matter he suggested a mini anl holder with a 150A fuse is that good to use for my amp with out risking and danger to it?
ToNasty Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 You fuse the wire not the amp. I don't use fuses ***Super Sellers List***http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/25829-super-sellers-buyers
SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 well yea the wires fuse i meant.
SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 and why dont you use fuses arnt you risking the chance of shorting the power wire or something. or do you use breakers or osmething. im just looking for answers on how to run my amp with the proper fuse.
Dude2800 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 He probably uses a circuit breaker.
snafu Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 If the Boss amp is the only thing powered by this cable, then you would fuse the cable per the Boss' directions (provided in the owners manual). SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 is my msg not making any sense??? i need to know what fuse to use in my main power cable that runs to the amp from the battery. does no one have an answer for this question??? and btw the manual dont say what AMP rating fuse i need to use.....
SmashYoFace307 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 or from the battery to the amp either way still need to know what AMPage of fuse is right.. 60A obvisly blows if i turn the volume up to high.
ric006 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 use an ANL fuse holder and use the fuse that it says to in your manual on that boss since its problable 1500 to 2000 RMS will depend on using a 150 to 200 amp fuse
