GueroZ28 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Just got my hds212s today but i dont have an amp yet..can i use them with my 850watt db drive monoblock til i get my amp? Or will it damage the amp?
oldsoundguy Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 What ohm are the speakers? What final impedance are you going to run? Is the amp stable at the ohm you want to run? Then yes it would be fine. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

Joe X Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 If you have two subs each one would only get 450 or so watts, that's below rated, and I don't know if the db drive amp will actually deliver rated, it's more like you should upgrade to a q1-1200 to take better advantage of the subs.
ModestDb Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 It sounds like the OP is just planning to run this amp until he gets one to really do the job. While you won't get the most out of your subs with the lower power (probably not even rated power but that's okay for now) having 2 D4 subs will permit a 1 ohm load and being that the amp is stable at 1 ohm, I say go for it until you can upgrade. Good luck. 4 American Bass VFL 8" at 0.5 ohm Soundstream Tarantula 3000.1D at 0.5 ohm 32 hz ported box designed by Mark at Car Audio Fabrications XS D1200 secondary with Stinger isolator

The soundqubed amp is expensive. I got a pioneer 1200rms 1ohm stable for an affordable price but it wont be here for like a week or 2.. so i want to connect it to this amp for now til it gets here.... But can the amp power the subs with out it being damaged even if it is underpowering the subs? Rated power says:1x300 at 1ohm

ModestDb Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I don't think that statement really provides any insight or helps GueroZ28 in the end. It sounds like he has an amp he wants to know if it will be safe for temporary use and already has another amp coming to him. He also may not be able to budget a different amp now after his pioneer amp being purchased. Stating a brands inferiority to another brand doesn't really help this guy out is all I'm saying. 4 American Bass VFL 8" at 0.5 ohm Soundstream Tarantula 3000.1D at 0.5 ohm 32 hz ported box designed by Mark at Car Audio Fabrications XS D1200 secondary with Stinger isolator
