Devestator X - 1983 Camaro Z28

Recommended Posts

Ok, here is my '83 Z28. Im the 2nd owner and it currently has only just over 100,000 original miles. No rebuild so far. Mostly stock so far, which is EXTREMELY rare for this generation Camaro. It even has the factory exhaust still in tact.

Upgrades/mods include...

2002 Trans Am leather seats

Interior color changed from Saddle Tan to black

Edelbrock open air cleaner

Pioneer headunit (soon to be Alpine CDE-147)

MB Quart PVL416 mids in the rear sail panels

JL Audio 12WXV2 subs

JL Audio JX250.1 monoblock

some cheap led strips from autozone

Wade rear tailight black outs

Enough talk more pics...

nice my dad has an 86 hes doing a full restoration on. putting in a 350 vs stock 305 though. got him a ct sounds 800.1 and sundown e8v3 for it. he got another 8 and ifinity kappas all the way around. should be pretty nice when done

I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

I hope to eventually upgrade this to a 350. I do get a good laugh though when I tell people it only gets 16 mpg and they ask, well how much power are you making? Must be decent. My reply is usually well, your (insert car name here) makes more power than my V8. No way! Then I remind them it was built in 1983 and bone stock from the factory it made 150hp, mine is still bone stock and probably makes closer to 120 or 110 due to age and miles.

Yeah I practically stole it at that price. This is my 4th Camaro I've owned and as soon as I saw it on Craigslist I jumped all over it. Paid cash for it in less than 5 days of it being posted. Carfax came back clean, really is a one owner car, started out in Texas, then moved to Florida in 1995, so it's always been a southern car. Not a spot of rust on it. Guys at the garage are always amazed at how clean the underside is.

Highest HP a 3rd gen saw was 245 out of the 350 TPI cars but those didnt start until 1987 and didnt hit that 245 until 1990. 1982 was the first year of the 3rd gen and the top of the line high HP motor was the 305HO, which had 190hp, but had huge issues with fuel boiling in the carb bowls and was discontinued half way through 1983. So yeah, back in the day, this was pretty much the top dog. The stangs of that time werent doing any better in terms of power either. It was a sad and dark time in the world of performance cars.

Thanks for the compliments on the install. I custom built the box myself, but it's far from being made correctly. This is one instance of it looks much better than it really is. Under that top plate is total mess. I actually call it the ghetto box and it will be scrapped when I start my upgrades.
