xxgokouxx
Hi, I've been trying to get into contact with steve to see what his input was on his system on his Lexus. But the shop said he's a private party and he owns his own side shop next to the shop I called... I didn't want to bother them any further. I didn't externally regulate my alt, in hopes of good results, but I seem to be stuck at the same voltage ratings, just the voltage kicks up faster upon RPM cycling upwards. I'd say my voltage @ 500rpm ranges from 12.9V-13.4V, and if I accelerate up. At COLD crank, I get a good 14v, after warmup, I can't seem to get past 13.5-13.7v. I'm currently using a Optima Yellow Top for my setup, I've ran in parallel to the OEM system, a 1/0 gauge wire from the alt to batt, and 1/0 gauge in parallel from the alt to the chassis. I can also take photos if it helps anyone figure out what I mean. FWIW, resting voltage on my Optima's surprisingly pretty sucky IMO. It rests at 12.3-12.4V, apparently the autoparts store I purchased the battery at says that 12.4v is a GOOD resting voltage. I argued about it for a bit and got nowhere, so I gave up and left. The battery was rated for 750 CCA, and it measured 734 CCA on their battery tester.... Any input outside of the battery would be greatly appreciated, thanks! MECHMAN
We do have an AVBM (adjustable voltage boost module) for that vehicle Which would give you the adjustment from 14-16 volts Quote 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]
xxgokouxx
I've read from Steve's forum that CELs were kicking off while he was trying to adjust, that's why I didn't buy the module. Will I get CELs if I go that route? Thank you!

SnowDrifter
TBH I'd say this is normal. Newer Toyotas/Lexuses charge really low. Not a bad thing though. It's easy on your batteries Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
xxgokouxx
TY for the feedback SnowDrifter I'm at the same time glad and NOT glad about the whole issue. I'm not happy I'm dipping down to 12v when I'm about to put 1400w+ (CT Sounds at1400.1d). I don't think my compressors like sitting at anything lower than 13.5v either . The worst part of all this is I don't have the funds at the moment (moving within the next month) NOR do I have room for a battery array Like in Mr Meade's car .... Adding batteries wouldn't solve your problem anyway.
