banginhummer Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Ok, I have read through a number of you guys' post, and I have exhausted all those, and still can't find a proper website or program to help calculate perfect/close tuning. Can someone direct me to a place that will calculate length of port for slot ports, and 0 common wall ports. Any help is greatly appreciated. *Hummer H3* HeadUnit Pioneer AVH-X4600BT Mids and Highs 8-CT Sounds Pro 8" 8ohm 4-CT Sounds Pro Tweeters Amplifiers 1-CT Sounds 125.4 1-CT Sounds 60.4 1-CT Sounds 7000.1 Electrical 3-Runs of 1/0 CT Sounds 8-XS Power D3100 3-Iraggi 300 amp Alternators Subwoofers 4-SQ Hdc3 15" Subwoofers (Soon to be 4 15" Ct Sounds EXO)

banginhummer Posted March 18, 2014 Author Report Posted March 18, 2014 I did, but don't really understand how it works, doesn't give me port length *Hummer H3* HeadUnit Pioneer AVH-X4600BT Mids and Highs 8-CT Sounds Pro 8" 8ohm 4-CT Sounds Pro Tweeters Amplifiers 1-CT Sounds 125.4 1-CT Sounds 60.4 1-CT Sounds 7000.1 Electrical 3-Runs of 1/0 CT Sounds 8-XS Power D3100 3-Iraggi 300 amp Alternators Subwoofers 4-SQ Hdc3 15" Subwoofers (Soon to be 4 15" Ct Sounds EXO)
banginhummer Posted March 18, 2014 Author Report Posted March 18, 2014 Download Torres calculator I have to type in the port length. Im not sure if its because I'm on Mac, and its not fully responsive or what. *Hummer H3* HeadUnit Pioneer AVH-X4600BT Mids and Highs 8-CT Sounds Pro 8" 8ohm 4-CT Sounds Pro Tweeters Amplifiers 1-CT Sounds 125.4 1-CT Sounds 60.4 1-CT Sounds 7000.1 Electrical 3-Runs of 1/0 CT Sounds 8-XS Power D3100 3-Iraggi 300 amp Alternators Subwoofers 4-SQ Hdc3 15" Subwoofers (Soon to be 4 15" Ct Sounds EXO)

Triticum Agricolam Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Most of the calculators will handle your 0 common wall ports just fine. Once you start trying to do slot ports with common walls you will run into trouble. None of the calculator I have found allow you to use the proper end correction for slot ports with common walls. The problem with these type of ports is the common wall makes the port seem like it is longer than it actually is. If you don't compensate for this you will end up with a longer port than you need and a lower tune than you want. While it doesn't make a huge difference it does make some difference. If you want to do it right here is a link to a page with the formula, if you know how to use a spreadsheet its not hard to put the formula in: http://www.diysubwoofers.org/misc/portcal.htm "Nothing prevents people from knowing the truth more than the belief they already know it.""Making bass is easy, making music is the hard part."Builds:

Can someone direct me to a place that will calculate length of port for slot ports, and 0 common wall ports. Any help is greatly appreciated. Torres calculator will do it, when you choose 0 common walls it will basically not apply the end correction for slot ports with common walls but Torres have port displacement calculation errors so... Your best bet is to have an accurate estimate of your net volume which can be had using Sketchup and an accurate number for driver displacement and the applying this (or maybe similar equations like the one Triticum Agricolam have linked): Av is the cross-sectional area of the port (in square inches) Lv is the length of the port (in inches) Vb is the enlcosure's net volume (in cubic inches). It will calculate the tuning for a port with a flanged end and a free end which is the normal situation if not doing a port with common walls. If somehow this still doesn't get you close enough (and normally equations will only get you close) I would recommend doing a removable port and doing an impedance plot, keep changing the length of the port until you zero in your desired tuning, this will be the safest method, be reminded that temperature can play a role on tuning so likely in a cold night you will have a slightly different tuning than a in hot day.
mdwerner6942 Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 Download Torres calculator I wondered then is the Torres pretty close on tuning, need to build a box for Zcon 15, and I have been playing with that.

OK well college math been too long to know formula, was just trying to get an idea on box for Zcon 15, but you saying the port or tuning will be off guess the port calculations and need for that many round ports may be off, just tried to get box for one Z con 15 25.5 x 24 x 21 tuned 32-33 not sure if lower would help or not. Winid now the graph is off no idea if the tuning is off, Torres know if I close it and come back it seems to be different and not the same or a least seem not to work as well until reopened. Now guess not at all. 5 4" ports needed to avoid compression etc or not.
