2011 jetta 2.0 build for friend - suggestions?

Hey all,

been really enjoying my current build in my subie STI. A friend heard it and loves the system, wants me to help him install a system in his car.

He gave me a budget of $850 to pick equipment for him. Basically for the subs I've got that covered, he will be buying my two 12'' JBL already boxed for $150.

Now with the last 700, thinking I will need some decent speakers all around plus an amp for the subs and speakers. With the limited budget I was also thinking retaining stock head unit for now. Assuming I'll need some form of line-in converter, I am not familiar with Volkswagens and not sure if his OEM head unit has any pre-outs on it.

If anyone has done an install in one of these cars I'd appreciate their input,

also, suggestions on front 6.5'' component and rear filler speakers and some good amps are appreciated.

thanks!!

If you were a good mate

You would build him a box and get him some decent subs

Word if advice don't see stuff to your mate if you want them to stay mates

lol, well, I sense a troll so no response to your comment.

My word of advice to you is learn to spell (and speak for that matter) before offering up poor advice.

Funny that you did respond and comment on my comment, when you say "no response to your comment"

And as for spell and speak, why would you need a pause filler or hesitation form when posting,

"Well," don't I look like a dick now

That ^ is trolling

My first comment, However, contained no, interpersonal conflict, shock-value controversy, discord, inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages

Did it not?

And I stand by my statement

Don't sell to mates if you want them to stay that way

It very rarely work out well

$850 budget.. Hmm so many options. Soundqubed,NVX audio... I would pick one of those IMO as a full build.

Edit: also do not charge a friend for the install and build a box for him.

2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d

140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed)

140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL

142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at)

141 on music.

Thanks I'll look into those suggestions. I was thinking of going with some JBL components and rears but as I have been having some issues with mine I am more reluctant to re-use/suggest them.

I don't know where people are getting the idea I'm charging my friend for the install...I never said I was nor am I charging him. Also the subs he is buying off me are already in a sufficient box. Only reason I'm not reusing the subs and box is because they take too much space in my new car so I went with a single 10 instead. I do not have enough time to build him another box before install (not that I need to), he lives an hour away and I don't go there often.

Hey there OP, John is typically a really helpful guy. I don't know if he was trying to come across as snarky, he doesn't usually. Just a disclaimer though, he's either Australian or a Kiwi from New Zealand. Bad Grammar is for the lack of fucks to be given.

As far as the post goes looking for help, I'd suggest Fosgate T1 components in the 6.5" versions. A good amp to power them would be a Fosgate P400-2.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
