timc31610 Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Is it a hatch Geo or a trunk Geo? My Build Log 94 Civic http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188644-94-civic-4-door-build-loq-suggestions-wanted-will-be-super-slow-mo/ Faceebook reluctantly
Zefyr18 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Report Posted March 20, 2014 hatch back geo metro, it's the red one in my profile pic If it isn't broke, fix it 'till it is.
timc31610 Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 I don't see how you can hairtrick without a wall, maybe fold down the backseat and wall the hatch area with two bad ass 18's? Zefyr18 Posted March 25, 2014 Author Report Posted March 25, 2014 So, for the purposes of testing ratings from Boss about their 1500W claims, I wired the dual voice coils to 2 ohm instead of the 8 I was running before. I have to admit I am mildly impressed! Not with their quality or power handling, but with the fact that it still makes noise. It's not a pleasant noise and the smell isn't very good either, however despite being beat on here and there for a few days it's still going. I disconnected it for now for fear of harming my amp when it decides to short out. I would hate to ruin a good amp with a swap meet dumpster sub. I'll pull it out of the box on my next days off and see what happened to it. I am going to be stopping by FI in Las Vegas next time I am down there to see what they have as far as subs go. Would hair tricking be easier in a Suburban? I just picked one up. Anyone want to buy a 96 Jimmy 4x4 with new engine? If it isn't broke, fix it 'till it is.
timc31610 Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 I don't think a hairtrick would be any easier in a suburban than in a Geo. It all comes down to how willing you are to sacrifice money, cabin space and gas mileage to get there. I can bet it will take more speakers and power to hairtrick a burb though. Zefyr18 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 I get the concept now after reading up on it here. If it isn't broke, fix it 'till it is.
Zefyr18 Posted March 29, 2014 Author Report Posted March 29, 2014 What's the general consensus on FI btl 18"s? I have a chance to get a pair of them for $300 each in good condition. Are they worth it? If it isn't broke, fix it 'till it is.
poorfish88 Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 One of the most battle tested legit sub there is.....They are going to need real amps, hi output alt, batts, wire, and a box. Otherwise you'd prob be happy with some Alpine type Rs.
biscuitownz Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 I don't see how you can hairtrick without a wall, maybe fold down the backseat and wall the hatch area with two bad ass 18's? Big ass box with low ass tuning with a sub that's on coke.
