Amart88
Is it ok to run my second alt not plugged in or hooked up until I recieve my VCM? I want to take the A/C out and get my bracket made but I still have to drive the truck. Thanks. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled. mnrookie
That's pretty much what ami customs does when he only has 2 of his alts turned on.
gr8handogoatness
Any generator can be spun without being wired. They also spin pretty freely without load so I'm assuming that there is nothing different about an alternator. My experience is more with big motors and generators and less with alternators but basically they work the same. The diodes that rectify it to DC are the biggest difference so I think you should be fine.
Lbox88
With the alt not plugged in it will receive no turn on signal and not produce, so basically it will jut be rolling on the bearings. Shouldn't be an issue. UBL | Build Log
mnrookie
Without it being turned on it just acts as another pulley.

Amart88
So, it will be ok with no power wire on the stud also? It will not be plugged in. My 2005 s10 blazer build. 4 zcon 18's walled.
