Hi,

I'm building a system for my 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 Coupe. I want 2 Obsidian Audio 12" V3 subs that run 600 watts RMS a piece for a total of 1200 watts. I want a 1400 RMS watt amp, but I don't know what the best but cheapest options are. The other question I have is what type of box I should go with for the best output for the subs. I would like to stick with sealed, ported, or a fourth order. But I would like a box that doesn't take up my whole trunk. I'm wondering which one sounds the best.

Thanks!

Without knowing a budget, I would recommend a Soundqubed q1-1200. they are great quality amps as well as being somewhat budget minded.

I was thinking less than 500 bucks for the amp. I don't know if thats possible or not with the prices I've seen so far. If it isn't what is the closest to that price. Thanks!

With a budget of 500 you can find plenty of amps that will give those 12s more than enough power. Look for a used AQ or SQ 2200 or a DC2k.

Current setup in my 96 Hoe

Hu - Pioneer DEH-80prs.

Amps - (4) Crossfire C5 1700D's, MTX Thunder 5604(mids), PPI Art 300.2 (tweets)

Batts - 4 91ah rear batts, 50ah batt up front.

Subs - 2 Crossfire XSv2 18's

Alt - Singer 330A

Front stage - Random JL & Eclipse mids, Eclipse tweets

Well, I don't want to match it because the amp will be working to hard. But the SQ 2200 sounds pretty good and its within budget. Thanks for the recommendations!!!

Do you have upgraded or extra battery? upgraded or 2nd alternator ?

i'am asking because a higher power amp wont do much without the power to supply it .

what box , battery, alternator and wiring do you have before the new subs ,box and amp ?

I hope to not be dazed by thingsthatglitter if i ever have more wealth than the low income.

Everything is default on the car I haven't upgraded anything but I would like to just do a regular sealed box and use 0-gauge wire. I don't plan to run the amp over 1400 watts so would I still need the extra battery and alternator? If so, I'll probably need to look around some more...

Which of the following do you have?

you could probably upgrade your factory battery and do the big three. Then you could maybe get a 1200-1500w amp. But that would be pushing it. I would upgrade to a 150-200 amp alternator and replace the factory battery. Even put a battery in the back. That would be your best bet. Your alternator is only 95 amps.
