It's largely a matter of perception. The X has sold 3x the units in one year that the Z v3 has in 3 years. There are a TON of units out there with a big quantity going to people active on forums.

Car Audio folks also tend to love change and trying new stuff. When i was younger I had a new woofer every month just to experience something different.

All in all feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Some people aren't used to the sound as it is quite different. The suspension linearity changes the sound dramatically by removing the "high bass" hump that traditional drivers create over stroke. That effect is pure distortion but some people like it and it's often described as "punchy"

I am sure others have their "opinion" -- but these are the facts. We cannot keep up with demand for them due to word of mouth on people loving them.

Eh, I feel bad about it.. but whatever you say Jacob..

Thats one of the reasons I didn't pick up a pair.. and went with what I did. I couldn't find many builds with them, or really any info on them.. :(

Now.. With that being said.. I loved the shit out of my SA8s.. For what they are, they definitely pack a punch.. and then some.. and took 2x rms daily perfectly fine. I didn't have any real complaints.

Now, if i saw more coverage (in ported boxes) on the X series on the forums.. and the reviews were good.. Id have a pair in my hatch right now.

If you have a legit concern I'd like to hear it.

After SBN you may be seeing quite a few more of the builds that are out there ; of course a ton of them are 4th order builds for SPL purposes :

-- 4th order build

Mike Jenkins was rolling with X-12s for a while in his ported build before going to Z v.4s :

-- With Z v.4

-- With Z v.4

The Z v.4 and X performed similar with the Z v.4 being about 1 dB louder.

We also had two X-10s in Jovanni's car for a while ported :

-- Two X-10 on an NS-1

These are just a few I know off hand.
