meade916
i am seriously considering dipping the ISF just to have switch it up for the winter or summer...my only problem is, if it gets snagged somehow and a tear starts, you gotta peel the entire fender off and re shoot. It seems if you use the pearl, you have to shoot the entire car or at least blend very well over the hood/trunk because i don't see 2 batches being mixed perfectly enough to match. Maybe the stock colors but not with the additives. Also someone came by my shop with their scion paint and windows covered with dip they couldn't get (completely) off...basically ruined it from what i can tell. Not sure what he could have done wrong but that would also be a concern of mine. I did my emblems and my chrome wheels but a entire paint job is a little sketchy for me. I would love to though if i knew it would all be good. We can't get gallons in Cali anyhow so i can't even experiment if i wanted to. Well i can smuggle some in, and i might, but it's a hassle unfortunately. your work looks good though man! The only time I've had a problem with it not peeling off was when I didn't spray enough coats to make it thick enough to peel properly. Remedied the situation by spraying a few heavy coats over the stuff I couldn't get off let it dry then it peeled right off. If it was my ISF though I'm not sure I would do it because if something did happen I'm sure that's not a cheap paintjob to have fixed. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. Well i can smuggle some in, and i might, but it's a hassle unfortunately. your work looks good though man! You're right it definitely isn't easy to blend...on pearls to get them perfect and not built up you have to walk the line of the car on each pass. So respraying a certain fender etc wouldn't be easy. On the bright side of that, people have discovered that you can use turtle ice spray wax on dip now and it makes it stupid smooth and helps with scratches/abrasions while also adding a sheen. It's basically sex lol. And the dip not coming off thing is always an application issue....someone went WAY to light and in turn it wasn't thick enough for peelability. A lot of DIY guys have this issue unfortunately...you should see how many (i tried and messed it up, how much to fix) customers I get lol. It looks good and gravy online but it isn't always as easy as it appears.....weather conditions, different pearls reacting differently, etc, make the whole process new and different for each car and color. That's one thing I took into account starting a business doing it....could the DIY hit really take out my business, could people just do it themselves and then I won't have any work? Huge answer to that is NO lol. No one has the funds to try and perfect this unless they spend thousands and practice a ton. Thankfully for me lol. Thanks for the props though bro....I've been getting extremely backed up lately work is in such demand....I'd rather be too busy than not busy enough www.TheAutoSkin.com MaliBOOM v2"2010 Bagged Malibu on 20s"<< click here<<< Excursion on 42s Build log<<Click here<<< Instagram-@theAutoSkinRyan @TheAutoSkin Owner of The Auto Skin
