Quick Port Question.

I literally slapped together a ported box for my lil 10" out of garbage scrap mdf i had laying around. Well in my haste I built the port wrong. I put the port wall behind the side wall instead of on top or next to it (pics below). So instead of my port opening being 1.25" wide it was 2" which is waaay too much. It was too late glue was set etc. no going back oh well.

So I was like fuck it ill just throw a piece of mdf in there to bring the port area down. the length and all was good i just goofed up the area. so I was able to just screw a panel in there for the long wall, BUT on the elbow side it was waaaay to tight to get another piece in there.

I just said f it clamped glued and screwed that bish.

So the port is 13.5 x 1.25 x 12 for the longest section and 13.5 x 2 x 4 for the elbow section. My question what effect would this have on the enclosure?

If it completely fucks up everything and will trash the woofer. Ill just toss it. It was all scrap painted on wrote on foamed on shit anyway.

Thanks

You are using the outdated version of Torres.

I went ahead and threw yours in the the new one with the new port dimensions. It came out pretty bad, lol.

Just to save the sub from being destroyed, I would set the infrasonic filter at 30-35 Hz.

Don't look for too much out of this box.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Drops it to 44 Hz, 1.16 feet3, with 16.88in2 port area.

45Hz with a double baffle
