Recommended Posts

I am wanting to upgrade my power wire. currently i have 4ga ofc wire for my power wire. would 0ga cca be better? or stick with the 4ga OFC? thank you

rockford fosgate p1000-1bd, FI ssd 15, and once i get some aftermarket speakers ill add a rockford fosgate r400.4. do not have big 3 done yet because my alternator is buried in my engine. that will be a project to get to.

0gauge cca should handle up to roughly 150-200amps. The 4 gauge up to roughly 150amps.

you could see a gain in voltage from that. Imo save the money for ofc.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

so upgrading to cca 0ga wont really be worth it? my voltage rests at 14.5 , but when heavy bass comes on it drops to low 12's, high 11's! i know an alternator would be the best upgrade, just not in the budget.

big 3 i had 10 gauge fusible link wire coming off my 125amp alt

No point in upgrading to 1/0 CCA unless you are trying to exceed 150amps(4 gauge OFC rating)

No point in upgrading to OFC 1/0 unless you are going to exceed the 250 amp rating of CCA 1/0

Im not pulling over 250 amps so I run CCA 1/0

If I were pulling over 250 I would have OFC 1/0.

If I was pulling over 375 amps I would have multiple runs of 1/0

Buy enough 0gauge ofc to do the big 3.

by big 3 I mean

batt ground

alt to batt power

alt case/mounting bracket/mounting bolt to frame

another good idea is a common ground for the battery and alt.

that upgrade should help slightly for voltage drop but not much.

other then that you can look for a decent agm replacement battery for the stock battery.

if you can manage it upgrade the battery and do the big 3.

try relocating your amp grounds to see if you can get better voltage. Make sure its bolted down solid and free of paint.

at the end of the day the biggest issue is that the alt can't keep up.

also how are gains set and are you using any boost? voltage drop that low with those amps is fairly bad. On music your only pulling roughly 100-150amps. Voltage drop down to wrote md low to mid 12s would be more reasonable.

t1500.1bdcp and t400.4 stock electrical 1 0gauge run to a 10 farad Rockford cap then 4 gauge to the amps (all ofc wiring) full tilt drop was low 12s high 11s on certain songs.
