My hdc3 12s in sealed off trunk sound abot the same if i remember right. Its been a few years. Even seen one put to wall socket, took it like a champ. I had 6 of the low end subs in my explorer. And a pair of 10" zen that got loud to. 01 focus se 110 amp alt Big 3 sky high and stinger hpm ofc 1/0 Super start platinum AGM (starting) 2 runs of 1/0 Execution audio front to back Kenwood double DIN DDx271 A pillars- orion 4" super tweeter and 2-1" alpines. westvan_dude Posted April 25, 2014 Author Report Share Posted April 25, 2014 Reason I was asking originally was because I have a pair of subs in the boat I just bought. But on closer inspection they are 10" units. Some off brand called Kaption SPL1000 units. They look pretty decent just for music... supposedly 500-600rms per sub. Motor looks good size too. Unfortunately someone removed the sub amplifier so I slapped in a USX-2080 2 channel class AB amp I had lying around just to see if the subs are still usable. Anyway, goddamn amp is done, blows fuse instantly even with just power/gnd cables on it, nothing else. But inside nothing is fried. Whatever, I got a refurbed Boss NXD5500 coming for cheap. Ya I know, it's cheap cr*p. But I only need 800-1000w so it'll do. It's not for spl or anything. I've had an NXD5500 in my Jetta on a single 12" medium duty sub and I can blow that up with the amp if I want. No issues for couple years now.
