Krakin Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 I'm expecting not much of a difference as you already listen to them fairly far off-axis. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
Aj11 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Report Posted April 27, 2014 so i made a few vids but to busy right now to wait for them to upload in the house. but with them inverted you do lose some of the vocals from the mids. id say maybe 15-20% lost. but i picked up allot harder mid bass. the way my deadner is in the door the mis is pretty much in a sealed box. its barely any different. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Rck'nRF Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 Most probable just me,but i would get awfully sick of a magnet constantly rubbing against my outer left shin bone as i drove..
Aj11 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Report Posted April 27, 2014 it actually doesn't hit me. my car is super wide tho. but i have at least 4inches from my leg to the magnet. but like i said these Comps are just temp so I'm gonna keep them like this until the new ones get in. then I'll decide if I'm gonna keep them like that. the passenger side mid is blown tho! i pissed i had no idea. if i knew i wouldn't have done any of this today. i just cut it off at 120hz and its not as noticeable. i really do like the look tho! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
alaskanzx5 Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 So are the looks more pleasing to you that its worth the lack of vocals? t1500bdcp 2 t2d4 15" 1 t600.4 1 t400.2 1 set p1 tweets singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
Aj11 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Report Posted April 27, 2014 so far yea, the lack is very very small. its deeper mid bass tho. idk I'll give it a few days and see if it grows even more on me and or if i get sick of it. but as of right now i think I'm keeping it. anyone other then me wouldn't notice the difference in my car. minimal! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Mtgrooves Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 So is the cone hitting the door panel or did you properly trim it for the surround to clear? Mids ex-curt farther then you think. The Shoe Maker without shoes!
Aj11 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Report Posted April 27, 2014 its trimmed. these type rs actually move allot. more then i thought anyway. still Cant wait for the meso Comps. these type rs are a few years old and have seen much better days! jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Facekicker Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 I just wanna give aj11 props for trying it out. So many people come here for advice, get good advice or get beat up on what they did, and choose to do nothing. Aj took some heat and still put the plan to action to see for himself. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
gr8handogoatness Posted April 27, 2014 Report Posted April 27, 2014 I personally don't think you've fully noticed how much of a difference its making, but it looks sick and if you like it keep it. Also good job. Thinking outside of the box, even though others have thought of it and done it before (that doesn't matter though you know what I mean), is cool but then doing it and trying stuff out is way better. That's how we got where we are today.
