Deeznutz Posted April 22, 2015 Author Report Posted April 22, 2015 Made a video of the Jimmy running. It made me think of my ol' man. Sighing. R.I.P Pop, I'm finally doing what you wanted me to do years ago.....And doing it right! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxw-uF4fl1E -Frank
MrSkippyJ Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 How are you going to use the bass knob with an amp on each sub? F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
Deeznutz Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 The slave amp gets the signal from the master amp. The remote wire will be toggled. -Frank
MrSkippyJ Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Oh I thought you were running them separately. My bad!! F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
Deeznutz Posted April 23, 2015 Author Report Posted April 23, 2015 MrSkip, you're right, if I run them master/slave, the sub wiring will not allow for one amp to be off. Hmmmm. I guess I can daisy chain the signal from one amp to another. Using a toggle switch to turn on the second amp. She can always use the radio's subwoofer control if I set both amps to the same level output. -Frank
MrSkippyJ Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 I think it will be easier on her and you to just run them master slave and let the radios bass knob turn them up and down as she likes. F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Are we overlooking the fact that you have both subs In shared airspace? If you wire them to separate amps and turn one off you just put one sub in double the enclosure volume with double the port area, don't see that ending well. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Deeznutz Posted April 26, 2015 Author Report Posted April 26, 2015 Spent the day going over the dimensions again, and again, and ....again. 8.82cf, after she's all said and done, 3.5cf for each sub. Used an aluminum L-shaped beam as a straight edge. So much faster than the table saw. Double walled since these are SPL subs. Still need to buy yet another sheet to make the front, back and divider tomorrow. -Frank
Deeznutz Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 Now enclosure update! I went ahead and dropped in 1 sub just to hear what it sounded like. Well, it was horrible. Decreased ouput, no bass with certain notes. A fluttering sound with other notes. WTF. The notes it was able to hit rattled the box across the floor. Adding 2 44lb Weider plates to keep it still only rattled the plates right off the box!! The motor force of this sub is impressive even with the lack of sound output. So I turned into Matlock trying to figure it out. Why does this not perform like the standard HX2??? On closer inspection, I see what is happening here. WORN SPIDERS. Spider is here....... When it really should be here........ Ok, I just made a $250 mistake when I bought these. Hmmmmmm. I watched Showtime Electronic's video on subwoofer reconing and 30 min. later..........."Screw it! (The A-team theme started playing in my head! ) Lets do this!!!!!". Spent the better part of an hour separating the surround. Thanks Harbor Freight for the $4.00 soldering gun. Worked just fine. OUT and INTACT. Only thing left to do is dust cap removal. Called Springfield Speaker and ordered (2) RFR 3115 4" x 8" spiders and assembly kit. Paul at Springfield speaker said he was able to do this exact repair. Up to this point the surgery was a success. Now to wait on the parts to arrive! Lisa asked if the system could be done by the next Tampa car show. Lisa and Devin BOTH want to see what the Jimmy can do on the meter. Shit, there is nothing sexier than your woman backing you up and being totally into what you are into! The fact that Devin is into audio as well, just makes me smile. That shit is cool! -Frank
Deeznutz Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 Oh, and since the basket is cone free, Lisa and I were talking about painting the baskets either Lime Green or Baby Blue since these are the 2 colors Devin likes. Yeah, I still want to do a plexi-front. -Frank
