Lots of guys cut a hole in the floor to get to them so that should tell you how fun it can be. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

Deeznutz Posted March 13, 2015 Author Report Posted March 13, 2015 Well, after a repeat $90 alignment for a "Pulling to the right" I found the problem. Cheap tire=belt separation. The last bolt is always the toughest! My hand slipped and moved the torq bit...striping the head. Had to drill it out. Now to replace the torq plus bolt. -Frank
Deeznutz Posted March 13, 2015 Author Report Posted March 13, 2015 I had to buy 2 sets 6 ton jacks and a 2 ton jack to get the clearance I needed. The 2 ton was the only jack a H.F. to have 24" clearance! The truck looks nice lifted up this high. Lifted. Hmm(cricket sound effect insert here) I just to finish this truck....maybe next yr! -Frank

Thought you were about working smarter not harder frank? Thought you were about working smarter not harder frank? The wobble wasn't needed for the top two bolts if you see the pic. It was a direct shot with extensions. I was leary about how much I could angle the transmission. Everytime I moved the trans down, I heard a creaking sound. So after I shook the truck to check for engine clearance and stability..I proceeded. It was alittle unnerving and time consuming. The smaller bolts were a pain. I kept hitting the jack lever with my elbow. That kept scaring the shit out of me. If I was crushed and killed OrionStang et al. would not have someone to put down....that's what went through my mind. (insert ironic sarcasm here) The hardest bolt was the driver's side middle bolt, due to a heat shield. Had to keep angling the transmission. I had to use a wobble socket and small extension. -Frank
Deeznutz Posted March 13, 2015 Author Report Posted March 13, 2015 I followed the tear down as described by Hiram Gutierrez on Youtube. Just like he said, "Very common issue,this check ball gets stuck in this separator plate and it causes the 2/4 band to burn. what we will find most likely the band for 2nd and 4th will be damaged". Yup, the check ball was stuck! "3/4" or "3 and 4" clutches are smoked. Broken plates. I ordered a rebuild kit. I should be here Monday. -Frank

My driver side door, wont even shut, with out lifting it up 1/4 inch, and using my "hip" to shut it....... Can i get some more detail on the hinge pins please? Deeznutz Posted March 13, 2015 Author Report Posted March 13, 2015 Look at the earlier portion of the thread. I did comment about the hinge. The aftermarket hinge does work, but if had to do it over again, I would do a few things differently to get a much better seal at the upper part of the C-pillar (?). I still have a 6 inch slim opening that I can see light come in. No rain gets in which is the important thing. The hardest part is shaving off the mounting plates. I now have a 7" angle grinder. I had used a 4.5" grinder and that took forever. Use caution with stick welding. Have someone weld it, who know exactly what they are doing because the metal is quite thin. When you go to do it, let me know and I will be more than happy to help. -Frank
