Need new rear shocks for 2005 Suburban, please help

Recommended Posts

So I brought my Suburban in to the shop to get my rear shocks replaced. I am told that the only replacements I can get are the GM ones that are over 600 a piece because of a sensor that is needed - and is not made/put on aftermarket ones at all. I've tried googling and really don't know what I'm looking at - Can someone help me find a cheaper alternative or steer me in the right direction on aftermarket ones that could work on a 2005 Suburban LT?

This is why I think I just don't know what I'm looking at.....

Why won't this work: http://www1.1aauto.com/air-shock-rear-pair-arnott-as-2715/i/arasp00034?f=830343&y=2005&utm_campaign=gb_csv_br&utm_content=ASP&gclid=CP3s35q_hr4CFcg7MgodVScAvQ

It has the sensors and says it works for the autoride suspension vehicles which is what I have.

best thing to do is, when at the mechanic get specific model numbers, then just go home & order them, put in yourself if you can. i'm not familiar with air ride suspension on GM trucks though, cant see why those wouldn't work. My guess is the shop wanted your $$$$

Can't you reuse the factory sensor or is that what doesn't work?

If you could then you could use these

After a lot of research, I found these and ordered them on my own: http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/product.cfm/id/1452429/name/AS-2715-Yukon,-Suburban,-Escalade,-Avalanche,-Tahoe

Pretty cheap alternative to the $1200 they first quoted me on.

Edit: Thanks for the help guys, wish I would've gotten the ones you found because they look like the exact same thing I got except about half the price.
