SPL.Pantie.Soak Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 I have no option but to wire it down to 0.5 due to my subs, my question is- what electrical must I have to have it as a daily? I am going to purchase 4 C&D 78ah batteries in an hour or so and everything else is stock thanks Kenwood KVT-614 (4) Marathon 155 AH batts 2/0 OFC SHCA Mechman 370 (2) Audioque 3500.1 (2) AA Mayhem 15s

I am going to purchase 4 C&D 78ah batteries in an hour or so and everything else is stock thanks I own a AQ 3500 and if you're going to run it on everything else being stock and just those four batts you'll blow that amp due to low power. Here's a screenshot of what you should be looking for the AQ: ^Vehicle log to come soon for this.^
John Fassetta Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 The alternator seems pretty accurate in that recommendation but the batteries seem overkill. If you go by the chart XS provides, they only recommend like two hundred amp hours for a 4000 watt system.
n8ball2013 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 but thats not accounting for the ridiculous current draw caused by running that ampat .5 either I dont think. Aidan Hansen Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 but thats not accounting for the ridiculous current draw caused by running that ampat .5 either I dont think. That's the thing, the calculations are for a amp at what it's rated. Since the amp isn't rated at .5 ohm and I put in what it's rated at 1 ohm. Anything that seems to be overkill is close to being accurate. I myself am running my AQ off of three kinetik hc2400s and one marine battery up front but that will change. Originally it was four hc2400s but it isn't necessary in my case for the fourth and it would required some more tweaking to use it in my build anyway. ^Vehicle log to come soon for this.^
Aidan Hansen Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Here's with the power at 14.4v instead of 12v which is what the AQ is rated 4300w @ 1 ohm 14.4v: ^Vehicle log to come soon for this.^
wccfan12 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 I have a DC 3.5k and the electrical in my sig. I currently have my amp at 0.25 ohm daily on my 4 12's and never drop below 12.5 cruising at 2k rpm. Idk what it does at idle cause I never play full tilt at idle. If I have the ac and headlights and fog lights on though it can drop to 12.2-12.4 easily but that's as far as it goes. So with my amp at 0.25 ohm it's prob similar to what that AQ would draw at 0.5 even though it puts out more than mine. If you get a 250-300 amp alt and at least 2-3 group 31 batts and a nice under hood agm and watch the voltage (and don't clip) I think you'll be fine. If you keep the stock alt it'll suffer though. You'll prob always be in the 11's on voltage cause I ran my stock alt (120 amp) on these same batts last year when i first dropped my DC 3.5k in at 1ohm and it dropped to 11.5-11.9 all the time. I only played it in short bursts though. Now I play full tilt song after song and the voltages I just posted is as low as it gets. Most songs I hang right around 13.0 even at 0.25 ohm. Sorry for the long post but hope this helps. You NEED that HO alternator though. Aidan Hansen Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 You NEED that HO alternator though. ^That It's not hard to do either in most cases and you don't need a monstrous HO alt but something like a 240 would be ideal if not bigger. Not only will your amp and the rest of the stereo want power from the alt but your car's other electronics need some too. Also most of the time you can find them available for your engine. ^Vehicle log to come soon for this.^

SPL.Pantie.Soak Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 Thank you all for your advice, I think I'll run a either 240 amp EA ALT or a 370 amp Mechman alt, the price difference is astounding I might add. I got the 4 C&D 78 ah batts, I hope that is sufficient, I may choose a different starting batt so my battery total is 5. With about 380 ah total.
