ikillsuckers Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 specs: 2011 Hyundai genesis sedan, 2 12 inch level 4's sound qu 2200 and audioque speakers in doors powered by a sound qu 120.4 using a stock head unit with the audio control lc8i to run the amps all speakers work fine until I start to put power to them, my head units highest level is at like 34 or something. I can play music from 0-20 fine but as soon as I start to turn it up more my speaker amp goes into protect. my sub amp doesent. any ideas? btw this started happening about 2 weeks after I put my system in. the first 2 weeks it was working fine
Marquisboys Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Gain is most likely to high on speaker amp, turn gain down to around 1/4 and see if the amp goes into protect mode 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
philrab Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Ground problem perhaps? Thinking as the power demand increases, if you're losing volts AT THE AMP perhaps that'll put it into protect? Especially since this happened two weeks after install. 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount. ikillsuckers Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 well the gain on the amp is set the same as it was the first 2 weeks, but I will definitely play with it for a little bit and see if it helps. as far as the ground go's my speaker amp is grounded to the battery along with sub amp so I don't think that's the problem. originally I thought it could be due to voltage drop because I was on stock electrical but I put in a xs power d 4900 today helped the voltage a bit but not the protection problem
Marquisboys Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 I feel like the sub amp would cut out before the speaker amp would just cause its the major amp drawing more power if the gains are set correctly... For the speaker amp does the power wire have a fuse on it? could possibly be loose.. I would double check wiring on the speaker amp Thinking its settings on the amp or the speaker amp connections. Cause if voltage was low both amps most likely would go into protect mode 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
Marquisboys Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Oh wait also i had this on my car one of the speaker terminals was touching metal and when i would go past lets say 25 volume on my deck my speaker amp would go into protect mode. Check your speakers terminals and make sure there not touching metal 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
Kyblack76 Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Impedance. Check the load. How many speakers are you running? Are the a comp set? Unplug one, turn it up. If it goes into protect. Un Plug another one. When you are able to go up with out a issue, that channel and of speaker is where your eyes need be. SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold

ikillsuckers Posted May 8, 2014 Author Report Posted May 8, 2014 im using the qc hf6.5's for my front doors so I unplugged channel 1 speaker and turned it up and same thing happened, I unplugged channel 2 speaker turned it up and same thing, unplugged channel 3 turned it up and got to volume 30 then the sub amp went into protect? did channel 4 and both amps went into protect..... my first 2 channels are front doors last 2 are rear doors. by the way I unplugged one. tested it and plugged back in and moved onto the next one. is that the correct way to try this? my voltage is above 13 whole time.. btw this is the first time my sub amp has gone into protect
