Colin - STAPUFT
http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relaydiagram27.html ^ Diagram and quick write up. So here is the thought- I know lots of people build their systems with the leads for the subs to the amps accessible so they can run "daily" at higher impedances and then at the show, move a wire or two and drop to a lower impedance for a few extra watts. Well, I'm lazy and I would like the ability to change it at will. On the fly so to speak. So...my question: has anyone here done that using relays? If so, how big of a relay or relays would one need? I know it depends on the power, but seems to me the little 55 watt relays wouldn't really be up to the task. I have been toying with the idea of going a new direction with my sub amps, and that would mean running banks of subs at 4 ohms (or more) on the daily and then have a switch that sends signals to relays that would *BING* switch the wiring and impedance over to 1 ohm (or something like that). Just for burps, just for fun. Picture: Has anyone done this or seen it done? How does it hold up, what are the down sides, etc... It has my curiosity aroused. hehe 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. hispls
I considered this in the past, but I worried that relays would be inadequate,, would definitely be a point of resistance, and if one fails (through time) what happens to your amp(s)?
