Control IOS device with Alpine Headunit via USB? Pandora

Recommended Posts

Running a 149bt with an Ipad Mini 2. Whenever I connect the USB into the ipad I'm only able to control pandora via the headunit. I'd like to be able to use the ipad as the main source for selecting my pandora music if possible. Is there a settings for this somewhere to change it from headunit to the apple device? My android phone also does this via bluetooth. The device screens go into a black screen with white text with the alpine logo mentioning something about connected. Can't really remember what it's saying on the screen at the moment.

My kenwood has a setting where you hold down the "ipod" button for a few seconds and it switches between controling from the head unit to the device.

Mine does to if you hook a compatible one to it. Alpine manual doesn't list it as one, hope it works for him.

this is why i hate alpine head units so much :( i had the same problem with the 148 mate. if i were you maybe see about swapping the head unit out for a pioneer prs series they are much nicer deck from installing experience. 80prs is nice one for about the same cost and i prefer it allot more. That tune it app frome alpine drove me up with wall when trying to help a friend use it.

What I do with my Deck for pandora/slacker/music on phone is just put the head unit in BT audio mode. Can control it through my phone instead of through the deck. Much easier that way for me to do than go through the pandora section when i want to listen to pandora.

formerly known as Blue86f150

its a 4th order just because its tuned in the 40z doesnt mean it wont reach down and jiggle your balls at sub 30 hz frequencies.

Regardless if they were dipped platinum and were stuffed in Beyonce's twat.....way too fucking exspensive

the bt audio can turn to garbage real fast depending if its in your pocket or cup holder.

Usb from ipad to usb input on the desk, using the pandora source on the headunit, with app selection set to usb instead of bluetooth in the settings.

I can't stand headunits without preset buttons or other settings on the faceplate. I had two kenwoods which had the knobs for everything. Going through the menus took a lot of time. I don't know if Pioneer is any faster. Plus, the Alpines looks a lot cleaner imho.
