Marquisboys Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Stuck on what i should do for a box. Either a nice ported box or do and aeroport. Not sure how aeroports sound and if they play a variety of hz.. I dont want a burp box. If i can do an aeroport the aeroport will be sealed off in the vehicle going through the armrest of the back seat while the box and sub remain in the trunk. I would have the sub facing towards the rear of the car. Do aeroports sound good with music? Would the the mayhem benefit more from an aeroport or just a nice ported box? 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
timc31610 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Slot port or Aero will both play just as well if designed properly. As far as sealing off and just having the port in the cabin, it seams like you would lose half of your bass if the sub is sealed off in the trunk. What are your max dimensions? Joe X Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 So here is a suggestion for a slot ported box, power: to subs rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, port clearance 5", figure is just an assembly guide:NOTE: If building outside you need to build a cardboard dummy box to test fit in it's way inside. Cutsheet is for a standard slot port like this: if you want to do a higher efficiency port as shown in the figure, let me know. If you want to push that much power, make sure you have the electrical to back it up and set your gains properly.
Marquisboys Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 Awesome that looks good. What ever tuning and box size the mayhem can work best with is what i would want. It has around 3800 rms going to it also 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
Marquisboys Posted June 26, 2014 Author Report Posted June 26, 2014 Well back to this again... Ugh i think im just going to do a 4th order in my trunk. Max dimensions 40.5 wide 24" tall 20 ish deep. Thinking a 10" port that shoots right in between the back seat arm rest. I need help this is my first 4th order i would build. Is this enough space for the 18" mayhem for a 4th order. And since i have the port shooting into the vehicle how would i face the sub in the box? 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
