Hes correct. 350 old school, and 270 LARGE CASE hair pin is being built as we drink, errrrrrr type. i have 3 total runs. i dunno... 20feet each? I was only running 2 runs. I did 4 tests, and added another. Adding that 3rd did dick. (now, this was with the one alt) Same 4 tests, and added a front to rear ground..... did dick. (again, single alt) IMHO, Ill be ok with the 3 runs even with over 500amp at idle Its all SHCA OFC, with dope ass eyelets/crimp connections. I use a eyelet i get from work. Acutally the same ones that Bill posted above. Fuckers are like 6$ a piece. Glad my work account gets paid. I figure the HP will do probably a bit BETTER on performance. Escpecially hot, and at idle. All testing ive done was hot. Its all shca 1/0 ofc. Drop, will now be looked at with the load i will have. Loss/drop i saw with the old gear, was pretty dependant on how i leaned on it. Took it into clippin, what tone i played. Where i was up, or down from tuning, and how far. All that shit. So, i kept testing at steady. AKA- i ran the same tone, same same same as i could with all varibles I COULD control. Im really really into getting the other alt. Im really stoked. Im really stoked. i think you will be fine with 3 wires but when things get hot and its 90 degrees with the sun beating down I wanna say 4 would be better especially since once you get this hairpin, that old singer 350 is gunna be replaced with his hairpin model. with 2 of those bad boys you are looking at almost 400 at idle lol. at least may not be noticible to ear, but your amps will like even .3 higher, so will the TL. lol im tuned in for some hairpin action. Yup. We think a lot a like. Fuckin scary. Also, i know this may sound pipe dream. But, me and Mike are shooting for 500 amps, hot, at idle. (with my 350 and the 270) He gets 250 all day on that hair pin, with a 650 rotor speed. The LARGE case, makes a big big differnece. Its why i chose it, instead of his 320 hair pin, which is a small case. It puts out for sure, but, i think mixing one of these TANKS, .... WITH a big boy hair pin, is gonna net me some wicked reliable performance. Youll all be the first to know. I have all the fluke testing gear to do some very legit tests. I even have a scope i can put on it, and monitor output for hours, and print the data out. LOL. Well see how dork i get. I just wanna wang...... Id rather add 2 or 3 ultra cap banks to be honest. Also, im really looking for a 30 second run improvment. I drop a good 2plus db from start, to 25 seconds in. Nature of the beast for shiz. I wanna do a 30 second run...... out side my car, at idle, LOL for fun. No revs. Just let it eat and see what or how it responds. Mike is into that also. Anyway..... well see..... Bump4life Posted May 23, 2014 Report Share Posted May 23, 2014 while you guys are holding 13 after 8 songs, ill be at 15.4 yes yes, a 12volt system i think 500 amps out of those alts at idle is pretty high. cold sure. hot idk. thats a lot to ask. I am building large case hairpins now and getting 200 hot at idle out of them for the 270 is pushing it. especially at 650. but i guess it all depends on pulley ratio. I am in for results as you know.
