EP95 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 ports not straight, has bends in it. Pretty much cut a 45" piece of mdf and cut it as to where it's the same distance on the bent side from the outer wall as it is on the straight portion.
timc31610 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Im sure someone who is good at sketchup could whip you up a pic right quick. The port needs to maintain the 2.5" width the entire length. The port length is measured down the center of the port. tmac93 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 that would be extremely helpful, Im still not understanding the length, I understand keeping it 2.5' thru out the length, but I feel like im going to have more than one bend in the port to reach 45''. but is that ok? more than one bend? creating kind of a maze?
timc31610 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 More than one bend is ok or you could adjust the dimensions so there is only one. I want sure how you would want it shaped so I just threw some numbers in that would work. tmac93 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 well this torres calculator is extremely helpful now that I got an understanding of it, thanks for everything so far
timc31610 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 No problem man that's why we are here. Just make sure you have a three in the common walls box so it calculates your port correctly. tmac93 Posted May 26, 2014 Author Report Posted May 26, 2014 ok thanks. one last question, does it affect anything by how many bends are in the port? say if the port went to the back of the box, put a 45 in that corner, then turnt right and went down to end and curved back? sort of like this, with 45 angles in every corner __________________ | _ __________ | | | ___________ | | | | | |_____ SUB_____ | ^ | Port
slowfkncar Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Had two of these before on a saz3k. They didnt like the low tuning big box combo lol. It was louder and even sounded better at 1.3net tuned to 36. I still have my specs from years ago if you like. External dimension. .75" mdf L-16 w-20 h-14 Vent dimension L-25 w-1.5 h-12.5 I didnt write down the tuning but im pretty sure its 36 or 34hz. The enclosure didnt have that much port area. But 1.3net for a 10" isnt gonna have that much port area tbh. Try punch these numbers in Torres to double check. I remember it sounded like crap im big boxes though. Probably because of the woofers ebp.

Where you can run into issues is when you have multiple bends and you are trying to get by with not enough port area. With 33 sq in of port area you should be totally fine. timc31610 Posted May 26, 2014 Report Posted May 26, 2014 Triticum would that last piece of port have to be accounted for in the displacement?
