Jwills Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Hey i need help building a box for 1 18" BTL. I'm running it with a SAZ-3000. I drive a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT(hatch). The the dimensions of my car are 36w, 34L, and 18.5H. I do plan on competing in SPL and listening to music. FI advises 5-8 cubic feet and I don't think I can fit 8 cubic feet in my small trunk. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Torres Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 what cars this going in, because i can see issues building that big of box then putting it inI drive a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT(hatch). actually...those dimensions you gave give you 9 cubes of air after displacement . but yeah this is what i'd do: box: (outer dimensions) heighth = 16.5 width = 36 depth = 21.5 port: (inner dimensions) heighth = 5 width = 7 length = 10 this port will tune the box to about 34.67 hz which is what i personally like to tune mine to. after port displacement...this will give you about 5.27 cubes of air. so you have room to brace it and not go below the recommended volume. this is also assuming that you're using 3/4 MDF. competition port: (inner dimensions) heighth = 5 width = 9 length = 5 this port will tune the box to about 46.21 hz for comps. you can add to the width if you wanna tune higher, or take away to tune a little lower. after port displacement...this will give you about 5.39 cubes of air box should fit snug width-wise if cut right
