Thats a good point. I have noticed in some songs that are around mid 40s have gotten quieter soundings but from high 30s and under became more powerful sounding.

No i have not

And given that the human ear is naturally more sensitive to a specific range of frequencies, certain frequencies will sound louder than others, even when they are the exact same dB level.

I mean listen to a 300Hz test tone at 100dB then a 30Hz test tone at the same 100dB level, or vise verse. Few will claim the 30Hz is louder, but I'm sure many will claim the 300Hz is.

Thats true,

I might move stuff around in my car and see what can gain some more points on the meter. I wish the bass meters wern't so expensive.

Next big project is a new box and put the battery in the back

Yeah, you're hitting numbers well beyond what affordable meters generally read. I have a meter that reads up to 130dB I picked up years ago for $90 from Radio Shack, I know for damn sure it's not calibrated and the readings aren't trustworthy, but it allows me to see if there is an increase or decrease within it's abilities (under 130dB). No idea what a meter costs that can at least reasonably accurately measure beyond 130db and be of any use to someone such as yourself. Probably a few hundred EASY. Wonder if there's an inexpensive program one can get for their computer and just buy a decent mic. Of coarse one would need a good sound card I'm sure, but it may able a less expensive option.

I'm curious, how exactly is scoring done? Does it take into account not only the peak level measured, but the frequency as well and the lower the frequency, the better your score?

I mean if it were just about the most output, frequency regardless, I would like to believe an enclosure tuned to a couple Hz under the natural resonance frequency of the vehicle would end up providing the most gain and thus the most output, which would be on a frequency much higher than you're peaking at now, probably somewhere in the 50's.

Thoughts/comments on that?

The scoring for this event was just the highest peak DB you can get. I did a 20hz through 60hz sweep and they found that my loudest was at 38hz. I thought that was pretty low myself.

Think it was around 46hz. It was the host who put on the show i was in first the whole time lol guess he didnt want to give the trophy to a no name guy. Usually the host wont use their cars cause its a shop vehicle they made. He only beat me by .4

General rule of thumb is to tune 19hz below resonant freq to peak at resonant freq. In order to find the right tuning for your car though would take testing. Tune to say 35hz and FI up by 1hz at a time and meter every change to find the right tuning freq for your setup and car to get the most out of it.

typically higher freq score better. I know with out changing anything I had a setup peaking at 51hz and 45hz was like 3db lower. Had another setup where 46hz was peak and 40hz was only 1db lower to though. Each setup will be different.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

Yeah that would be nice to do. I wanna buy a meter so bad but idk if i want to fork out 400 bucks on it lol but it would help with a lot of things. Oh before the sweep i did i tried a song with some higher notes and at 46hz it was only .3 db lower than my peak
