Just competed last night at a sound comp.. Found out that my peak is 38hz i hit a 144.7 sub up port up in a grand marquis. I barely went up from sound dampening and putting the crescendo 3500d from the the AQ 2200. I was hoping to get past 145. I dont think these cars like to meter good

Deadening can increase output, but it can also decrease it. not sure if you've ever watch the hardcore guys deaden their rides or not, but they measure they system, put on a piece of deadening, measure again, put on another piece if the measurement increased, or remove what they just installed if it went down. A daunting task if i do say so myself.

You may have nearly doubled the power to the subs as well, but AT BEST you'd see nearly +3dB.

Then there's the concern about the electrical system that has been stated.

Yeah i dont want to get that hardcore on the deadening lol id drive myself nuts. Im hoping after my new box and another battery i can push over 145 with the setup than.

Completely understandable. Not sure what exactly you happened to gain through all your efforts, but I could see +2dB or so allowing people to say it's noticeably louder or more. After all, they say a gain of 3dB is perceived as being twice as loud by the human ear.

Edit,

Wait, you went up but .5dB and had people claiming it was much louder than before?

Wonder if the gain increase was more so somewhere other than at the dash, port, or where the mic was placed.

Guess it wouldn't have been the port, you didn't indicate you were in a port war.

Still, it's be kind of odd to not get the most gain, or at least more, at the dash than at the point one's ears would be.

Yeah it was just on my windshield. And yes people have ask what the heck did you do it sounds alot louder, more powerful and aggressive feeling for sure. I could tell a huge difference after the sound dampener. My GF got used to how it sounded before and now she says its uncomfortable to sit in it.

Could be that other frequencies that weren't so loud before got much more boost but your peaking frequency just so happened to not get much of a boost at all.

Don't have any why of knowing what the response plotted like before do you? i mean you never had a RTA used on the system did you?
