KiKaZz74
I'm trying to design a box for a friend. He has two 12" impp free air subs. 150w RMS. Going into a Chevy lumina trunk. I got 24d 36w 16h for the max dims. What would like for air space? Idrk what for an amp. They are 4 ohm each. Don't worry about a design but what would a good tuning be? Mostly rap with long notes and punchy bass. And how would that port look? Width and length? Triticum Agricolam
Those subs are not designed to go in a box, they are meant it be used in an infinite baffle configuration. There is no box that you can build given the space that you have that they will sound good in. Probably not what you want to hear, but the best thing for you to do is tell your friend to get some more appropriate subs. SIDE SHOW
THROW them in a cheap prefab box...... wont sound as good as they could sound, but atleast you can use them.
KiKaZz74
They are in a shit osb sealed prefab. But they won't work in a box at all? It's what he has and I don't see anything new anytime soon. But I'll post the box up in the am that I have. For a generic dual 12 box what size should a slot port be? I've got 14.5" tall to work with. How long? Tuned low mid 30s? Triticum Agricolam
If they are already in a box, my suggestion is just leave them in it and roll with it. They aren't worth investing any money or materials for a box. These subs are designed specifically to not be in a box, you can put them in one and they will make sound, but its not going to be anything good. We would need the dimensions for that certain enclosure due to the vast # of companies that do make generic prefabs.. We'd just be guessing blindly at this point. 2006 Hyundai Sonata Lx - Alpine CDA-9885 - Rainbow CSX Comps - (2) 12" Sundown Zv4 - Sundown 5K - 4.6ft3 @ 33hz w/ 6" aeros sealed off in trunk - 250a Singer alt, Kinetik 1400, (2) 2400s - 150.4 @ Dash as of now

KiKaZz74
It's 6.1 cubes before any displacements. 24" deep. There's a 6" wide flat face in front for the port. Subs angled back slightly. Total dims are 36w 24d in middle at 6w 20d at edge of sub face. 16h My SPL to SQ Build Log Vehicle:1997 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4 2009 Dodge Journey SXT5.2L V8 Magnum 3.5L V6 Stock AltEquipment: Headunit- Alpine CDE-147BT Mids/Highs Amp- JL Audio G6600 Class AB 6 Channel Sub Amp- Hifonics BRZ1700.1D @ 2 Ohms Taramps DSP3000.1D Sub- Hertz Hi Energy 12" HX300D SounDrive SDA3 12 Tweeters- Rockford Fosgate Power Series Silk Domes Hertz Hi-Energy Mids- Dayton Audio Reference 4" Full Range Drivers Midbass- Silver Flute 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" Processor- MiniDSP 2x4 RCA- 6 channels of SounDrive HF series Wire- EB Flex 2/0 -Member of Team SounDrive
truthsayer
Seeing as they are free air subs as you say. Just put them in the largest ported enclosure you can fit. I would tune at 35hz truthsayer
KiKaZz74
Well that's the box he's wanting. What would a good daily tune be for if he changes subs and what would the port look like? Dimension wise?
