dangaranga
I may be purchasing a D3100 for a secondary battery. I know it's been discussed A LOT but will i cause damage to either my stock batt up front or the d3100 having them both wired up? I'm looking more for a yes or no answer. My starting battery is about 2 years old, next time its needs to be replaced i will upgrade it to agm also. But in the mean time will I hurt either battery? audiofanaticz
Yes, it will hurt the agm battery. A flooded lead acid battery has a lower resting voltage compared to an agm battery that normally rests around 12.9 or so volts. When your car is off, the front stock flooded lead acid battery is only about 12.3ish volts, there for the front battery will cause the agm battery with a higher resting voltage to drain its voltage down until it matches that off the stock flooded lead acid type battery. dangaranga
Your fine Thanks! I see people make it a big deal to not mix agm/lead acid and then on the other hand tons of people do it. I just want to be sure I wont kill anything, Quote Brandon 2000 Furd Ranger supercab 4x4 System: welding wire throughout the truck USalts 390amp Hairpin Juicebox in stock location 8 Banks of maxwell supercaps 2 American Bass Vfl 1100.1 wired to .35 each 2 Fi Audio Sp4 18's ( the DD sc 9918's smoked) Pioneer radio with Soundstream PA mids Powered by a nice sized soundstream 2 channel It's pronounced (dain-ja rain-ja) 2001 2 door focus 1 DD9918 SC

audiofanaticz
If you can buy a new battery for under the hood somewhat soon, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But I wouldnt go doing it for years on end. Personally if your system is correct in your sigature with a audiopipe 1500, high output alt, big 3, etc I would upgrade that stock battery under the hood first with the proper size battery that fits that location, and then go ahead and see if your still needing more battery power or reserve capacity. just my $0.02 though. Ok thanks. My sig is correct, but within the next month i am getting a c2 team 1k sub and a c2 recon 1.6 running .5 ohm which has the capability of 2.5+. I just want to make my electrical as solid as possible. Im debating a d3100 or a bank of maxwell super caps. But since my alt isnt gonna be able to hold it on its own so i am leaning toward building my reserve Quote Brandon 2000 Furd Ranger supercab 4x4 System: welding wire throughout the truck USalts 390amp Hairpin Juicebox in stock location 8 Banks of maxwell supercaps 2 American Bass Vfl 1100.1 wired to .35 each 2 Fi Audio Sp4 18's ( the DD sc 9918's smoked) Pioneer radio with Soundstream PA mids Powered by a nice sized soundstream 2 channel It's pronounced (dain-ja rain-ja) 2001 2 door focus 1 DD9918 SC

dangaranga
Ok, so my revised plan is a d3400 up front and a kinetic hc2400 in the back. Am I headed in the right direction?
