2013 Toyota Camry Sealed Trunk... 2 12" Ethos Questions???

Recommended Posts

OP I see in one of your pics the port parts assembled in a different way than the figure and cutsheet provided specified, I just want to be clear that is not by mistake, to be clear, the port needs to be 5 1/8" wide everywhere or it won't work as intended.

Joe X, the port opening is 5 1/8" wide, except in the corners. I meant to ask you if I should 45 those at 5 1/8"? Is that what you mean? If you are asking if my port is 5 1/8" throughout the full length, then yes it is. It's just not flared on the opening and there are no 45's. Both those can still be completed.... Please advise. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I remember something was up with my front baffle. It was 3/4" too wide and I went ahead and cut it off. I cut and measured all pieces as stated on the cut list and couldn't figure out why the wide baffle was 3/4" too long. I did however measure the port from opening and all the way to the end and it kept a 5 1/8" width all the way through length of the port. I was stumped and decided to cut it off. I can snap some pictures with a measure to show you the width down the length of the port, if you want that is...

When I was trying to figure out what was wrong, I decided to figure out what the net volume was. When I calculated it out, I came up with 3.75 before driver displacement and bracing... I figured all was good, as the port width stayed the same... That's when I cut the extra 3/4" off the front baffle.

Yes, everything checked out ok. That's why i was stumped... I just chalked it up to a computer glitch? IDK? But yes, port width is actually the best i've ever done, and all the externals check out ok. I used Gorilla Wood Glue to glue the two baffles together and then used LockTite P3 for the adhesion of the two baffles onto the enclosure itself. I then put plenty of screws down. I plan on putting a dowel rod from front to back as soon as I get the holes cut. Thought about fiberglassing, but we shall see. Thanks for your help, design and input. Always much appreciated...

If the external dimensions are the same and the port is 5 1/8" all the way through (obviously the turns are wider) and you do that double layer baffle I guess you are ok, build this box extremely strong.

Should I 45 the turns? Or leave them be?

Ok guys, I have video uploading now. Here is one, but I have better on the way. (2) 12" Ethos on strapped Q2200's. THanks Joe X for the box design. Not sure how the cut list was off, but the enclosure sounds great! Here is a short video and please keep in mind, i'm no director! lol Also, in the next video I post, it will actually show the subs and amps, but please keep in mind that I'm not finished with the cosmetics. I finally finished the sound portion of this build, now on to the cosmetics! Here is a little teaser...
