Friend wanted a box designed and possibly built. Dual 12s. tuned to ~34Hz i think.

Dimensions are

36" W

16" H

14" D1 at edge

18" D2 at Middle with port

6" W in Middle

port is 3" wide 15.75" long then turns into 1.5" wide at 3" to total 18.75" at 3" wide

3.91 cu ft gross

3.42 cu ft after port

1.71 cu ft per side

how does all that sound? no specific subs, so i guess you could call this a prefab?

anyways. heres pics to help u guys out and let me know what you think

tear the design apart if u want or compliment it. id love to build it but its up to him.

with the subs and port on the same surface my lumina was loudest with the box up to the seat. that was with 2 sa 12s at 35hz I think 4 cub. my loudest setup was subs up port back all the way to the trunk 2 dd 2512s 4 4 inch aeros tuned at 41. subs up ports back you need to keep the box short as possible, same surface id max the width out at 34 inches, and 16 inches in height should be good, just gotta be sure you are clearing the trunk springs. I have a 98

I think I took the springs into consideration. I'll have to check tho. Does everything look good tho? Design wise.

looks good to me, you'll just have to choose a driver to work within those parameters. i'd personally pick a driver at this point knowing what you basically want in an enclosure, make any adjustments needed to the design, i.e. make it deeper to get more volume if your driver needs 2 cub instead of 1.7. otherwise looks like you got a solid design. i think 36 might be too wide to slide all the way back in between the wheel well humps, i can measure the box the fit mine lumi when i get off @ 2am for reference. But once you have everything hooked up you'll have to slide the box around until you find what sounds best with that particular app. The only thing i can't make a comment on is the angled face for loading off the trunk and relfecting into the cabin, someone else will have to chime in on that. I also recommend doing a back seat swap to a Monte Carlo seat of the same body style because the fold down and he will get more sound into the cabin, or you can invert the box and seal it from the trunk. just some other ideas for ya.

I would just do a plain forward firing setup but custom to the subs to be used, that design would be harder to build and seal off, you would probably want to explain why you did the slanted baffle.

That's it orion. Like I said. It's for a friend if he can make up his mind ever. He wanted it like this. I can go up to 24" deep so I've got a ton of room to play with. It was gonna be for Pioneer impp subs but then everyone said not to since they are free air. What do u think is a good price to charge for this box? Does the port look ok and everything? How I lined the joints up look ok?

Oh and to the sealing off. Good one. He's cheap and doesn't care if his trunk rattles. I've trying to get him too. But it is also a old car so it's not a priority since he's suppose to get a new car in fall.

Based on your data the box loaded with 2 sa12s would be 3.14 [email protected] - 47.25 sq in of port area. Looks small for those, maybe a couple of 12" DC Audio level 2 would work there but lowering tuning a bit would be a good idea if he listens anything low tuned. Also I would charge him quite a bit considering how difficult is going to be to build it neatly.
