max785
Hi,I was about to change my headunit to a pioneer dex-p99rs since I wanted to do a 4 way setup ( was use for 500$ !! ). I'm currently running a deh-80prs 3 way active. I have read on forums that they don't recommend doing 4 ways if you have a small car ( I have a 2001 civic ). I would also need to add or change my current 4 channels amp to accomodate the new midrange and build new a-pillar. I also read that " wideband " speakers could act like a you have a 3 way front set.I could save the money from going to 4 ways to buy better comps since I have a pair of alpine sps-600c. I bought them when they were on sale for 70$. They were a good upgrade from the stock one. What you guys think ? Any suggestion for a new set ? 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
Krakin
I'll pay you $501+S&H for the headunit. I suggest going with a really nice pair of 3-way speakers. Tweeter+upper-mid together in the A-pillar or on the dash with the lower mid, preferably in a good enclosure just like a sub would be, in the kicks. I would stay away from the doors as avoiding flex and getting, an easy, enclosure into them is hard. If you do end up four way, I still suggest keeping the upper-vocal and tweeter as close as possible together and putting the lower-vocal in the door with the mid-bass in the kicks. If you end up with the upper-vocal and tweeter in a separate enclosure in the dash I would strongly suggest keeping the baffle as small as possible to avoid bad baffle diffraction. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. White Lightning
Nice head unit. The only way you would "truly" everneed a "4 way" setup front would be to have a "3 way" setup with a "up front" sub driver stage. Just saying. Like Krakin said ... mid range and tweet as close to eye level as possible with mid bass in the kicks. With plenty of time alignment ... max785
Yes I know I've already got the tweeter, midbass in the door and 2 sub.It seem that the midbass sound better in the door then in a kick pannel. 2001 civic dx 2 X sa12's " 1 X aq1200d Knukonceptz 4 gauge , rca
bcbrassard
Depends on how your kicker panels are set up IMO. Way sweet HU that most would easily pay what you paid for it.
