magillaru Posted July 11, 2014 Report Share Posted July 11, 2014 I have 1/0 gauge Monster "OFC" wire with 300 amp fuses.....just wondering if I'd be safer with 250's? *I've thought about running all new (better) wire but don't want to spend the money and even though it's not the best, it's not the worst either (except for that stupid plastic piece running through!). I was under the impression that the wire gauge was what determined the fuse size....? I was under the impression that the wire gauge was what determined the fuse size....? If my alt does 80 amp, but i use 8/0 gauge good for 500 amp, would you fuse to that? You dont have enough amperage to let a 300 amp fuse go..... Use the 1/0 but, fuse down.....to be safe.
