Giuseqpe Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has run a m3b at 0.5 ohm daily? I have a singer 240, 1 xs d3400 and 2 d3100. 2 runs from alt and 2 runs between each battery. I'm wired at 1ohm at the moment and barely drop. Just wondering if the amp can handle 0.5ohm daily. Thanks
Bump4life Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 yes it can. as long as your electrical is good. Swordlordboy1234 Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I wanna run .5 ohms daily like all the cool kids. Can I have it in a 4th order too just to fit in? Edit: OP, yes you can run most well made Korean amps at lower then 1ohm load.... Does it mean you should? Most likely not... Especially not daily.... Especially if you don't know what your doing. Best advise I can give. When you wanna run under 1ohm nominal. Take your amps wattage.. (3800 of the m3b) and build to about 40% more then you would normally need. With that calculation I get 5,320 watts. So running a m3b at .5 daily you should build your electrical as if you were going to run a 5000 watt amp at 1ohm. Hope that helps. Swordlordboy1234 Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Dont mind this guy^^^ What's not to mind about correct info? Can it be run on less? Sure.. Take my build, stronger amp, and less electrical then I just reccomended to OP but I also know my stuff is set up correct and I always keep an eye on my voltage even though it never touches below 13.1 But if you gotta ask, the people giving feedback have to assume they do not know better and need an overkill answer. Krakin Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 Lower resistance is not a good thing. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
