Alternator

I feel dumb for asking cuz This is probably a long shot of a question but it's worth a try ahah.

Just recently Singer has and alt available for my car (2013 focus) and I want to pick one up to help support my electrical for future builds, but I'm afraid of the install, stupid ford put my alternator soo deep under everything that I would feel much better taking it to a mechanic but I don't know of any good/trustworthy mechanics in my area.

Does anyone happen to know a good mechanic in the sacramento area to get this done for me?

Replacing the alternator is generally a basic job; pretty hard to do it wrong. Your Ford mechanic should be fine. Just make sure that you do the big 3 before or shortly after you have it installed so you can get the best possible voltage from that h/o alt.

wait Singer has an alt available for the Mk3 Foci now?

I just emailed them for a 2012 Focus. This is great news. But yeah the Ford dealership should do you good. Might charge a tad bit too much for labor and whatnot

I rather see a mechanic /bass head do it then a shop saying what's a big 3?

I totally agree. I was gonna say the dealer people would be like "so you want me to remove a working alt and replace it with a working alt!??)

And yes. If the alt is a bitch to get to. Run your big boy wires at the time

Great call bill. Brian is a stud.

If Bryan is local to you take it to him. For sure. Great call bill.

Was over there helping the other day and he say he wasn't sure of any mechanics.

I think I've met Brian over there once but I could be mistaken haha didn't know he had an auto shop.

I just thought if I took it to the ford dealership they'd be confused as to why I need a new alt already and try to talk me out or something stupid lol idk.

I also thought it might be a different way to hook up the h/O alts and when bypassing the pcm?

If you can't find anyone else, there's nothing wrong with the dealer... just tell them "I bought a better alternator to power my shit" and they understand. They won't know what the big 3 is but they'll be able to do the alt swap no problem. You'll have to do your own big 3, which is pretty easy.

Plus, if you take it to the dealer instead of a shady dude who works out of a shack, and you run into problems with the alt or if you blow any fuses, they'll have the tools to diagnose and replace the equipment to fix you up.

Best of luck with your install.
